Simon Phillips

Hi my name is Simon Phillips. I am a ProMediaGear Ambassador based in Perth Western Australia.

I am self taught in photography. I have always been interested in photography from an early age. I got my first film camera at the age of 4.

Back in September 2017 I was diagnosed with Autism after a really dark patch in my life. I’ve used photography to help me deal with my mental health and helps me cope and challenge myself. I also live with chronic pain, which developed from an accident which took place on a building site in late August 2016.

I was a motorsports photographer internationally for a number of years, then in 2017 got into landscape photography which I have been using as part of my rehabilitation. I’m really enjoying the new direction and I’m taking photos in a slower way. 

I got my first DSLR in 2009 which was a 1000D and over the years I grew my kit. In 2020, I moved over to Hasselblad X1D-50c as it suited my needs. 

For my camera support I only trust and use ProMediaGear. I have the TR424L & TR344 tripods and both the BH1 and BH50 ball heads.

I have been in some pretty nasty conditions and this has never let me down. I’ve had tripod failures in the past but I’m glad I found these guys. I’ve owned the TR424L for 4 years now and it is still going strong, it has had regular maintenance, I can see myself getting 15 years out of it easily.
